On June 1, Wenatchee Valley Medical Center opened a new clinic in Brewster. Over the years, the goal of WVMC has been to build a regional health care network that delivers high quality, safe, efficient and cost-effective care for the residents of North Central Washington. It is important for that care to be delivered in the right place, which in many cases is the patient’s hometown. In Brewster, the current primary care physician clinics have provided high quality care to the community; however, Dr. Linda Niehaus, owner of Main Street Health Associates, has decided to close her practice and leave the area.
The Board of Directors of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center was concerned that the closure of Main Street Health Associates would leave a significant shortage of primary care physicians in Brewster and make it difficult for patients to access safe, effective care locally. As such, Wenatchee Valley Medical Center entered into an agreement to purchase the building and supplies from Dr. Niehaus following the closure of her practice. The doors of Main Street Health Associates closed on May 31, 2012, and the "Wenatchee Valley Medical Center: Brewster" office opened on June 1, 2012. Bethany Lynn, MD and Grace Larsen, ARNP, along with most of their staff, have joined Wenatchee Valley Medical Center to continue serving the Brewster community.
Dr. Peter Rutherford, Chairman and CEO of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center said “Dr. Niehaus and her husband, Brad, have been committed to the Brewster community by providing high quality health care to all residents for many years. Our plan is to continue and build upon that tradition.”
Dr. Linda Niehaus added: “As we considered the options about what to do when closing the business, it was natural to think of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center because we have always had a good relationship over the years, and were confident they would provide excellent care for our patients.”
During this time of change in the delivery of health care in the region, this allows Wenatchee Valley Medical Center to provide continuity of care for the residents of Brewster. We look forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of Brewster and meet their health care needs.
