Acute Shingles
The Clinical Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is currently looking for patients with a new diagnosis of Herpes Zoster (shingles). The shingles rash can only have been present for 72 hours or less. Patients must be willing to come in every day for the first week, followed by weekly follow-up visits for the next 3 weeks. Atrial Fibrillation
To qualify subjects must have Atrial Fibrillation and be unable to tolerate Coumadin (warfarin). Males or females 50 years of age or older must have risk factors for heart disease or diabetes to qualify. This is a 3 year study. Patients will be compensated for time and travel. Breast Cancer with Prior Treatment
The Clinical Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is currently conducting a study for breast cancer patients who have received one or two prior chemotherapy treatments and have locally advanced or metastatic disease. Patients will receive either an investigational drug infusion or an already approved oral treatment. Continuing Shingles Pain
The Clinical Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is currently conducting a research study of an investigational medication for the treatment of Continuing Shingles Pain or Postherpetic Neuralgia. If you are experiencing shingles pain that has persisted for three months or more after the disappearance of the shingles rash, you may want to receive more information about this study. Qualified participants will receive laboratory tests, study related physical exams, investigational medication and compensation for time and travel. Insomnia
Have trouble sleeping? Wake up during the night? The Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is conducting a research study of a new medication for the treatment of insomnia. If you are between the ages of 18 and 65 and frequently have trouble sleeping and do not have other sleep disorders such as apnea or restless legs, you may qualify. Multiple Myeloma
WVMC Clinical Research Department and the Oncology department are conducting a study for patients with multiple myeloma. Qualified participants cannot be a candidate for high-dose chemotherapy or stem cell transplant. Patients must have measurable disease requiring systemic therapy. NSAID Induced Ulcers - High Risk
The Clinical Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center is currently conducting a study for men and women 18 years and older with conditions expecting to require NSAID use for at least 6 months, with a documented history of an ulcer related serious upper gastrointestinal event such as bleeding, perforation or obstruction. Osteoarthritis/Rheumatoid Arthritis
Bothered by Arthritis? Concerned About Heart Disease? The Clinical Research department is conducting a research study of 3 approved medications commonly used to treat pain due to osteoarthritis (OA) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in people who also have or are at high risk for heart disease. Qualified participants will receive study-related medical care, regular study check-ups, and study medication at no charge.
To qualify you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have had osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis for at least 6 months
- Have been prescribed regular medication for your pain for at least 6 months
- Have or be at high risk for heart disease, which includes a history of heart attack, stroke, or diabetes

Recurrent Ovarian Cancer
For patients who have had a diagnosis of recurrent ovarian, primary peritoneal or fallopian tube cancer. Participants Must have recurrence > 6 months since the last chemotherapy treatment. Patients will have 6 cycles of chemotherapy, with an additional 4 cycles given as determined by the oncologist. For more information click on “contact us” Phone: 509-665-5800
SWOG / PSOC / GOG / RTOG / SCCA
Wenatchee Valley Medical Center Cancer Care Center participates in multiple clinical research studies to assess the effect of investigational treatments for cancer patients. The studies are offered through affiliation with the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), Puget Sound Oncology Consortium (PSOC), Gynecological Oncology Group (GOG), Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). Teen Migraine Clinical Research Study
To qualify your teen must be 12-17 years of age, diagnosed with migraines or experiencing moderate to severe headaches that last 2 hours or more, occur 2 to 8 times per month for at least 6 months and be accompanied by a parent or guardian to each study visit. Participating teens receive at no cost, a comprehensive medical evaluation as it relates to the study, study medication and ongoing study-related care by medical professionals. Ulcerative Colitis
The Clinical Research Department at Wenatchee Valley Medical Department is currently conducting a study for men and women over 18 years of age who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Participants need to be on a stable dose of medication for > 3 months and have had at least 1 flare in the last 18 months. This study may last up to 1 year and have up to 5 visits.
